2025 Bordeaux Futures & En Primeur Wines

The Futures campaign is now underway, with releases coming out steadily over the next several weeks. We’ll build the offer as we go, focusing on the wines that impressed us last week and that we feel offer excellent value.

One thing became very clear during our trip. 2025 is not an across-the-board success where practically every wine from every region was a hit, as was the case in 2005, 2009 and 2016. The top estates did an exceptional job, as did many “smaller” properties, but the gap between the best wines and the middle of the pack is noticeable. Selection is going to matter.

No one is calling 2025 perfect, or the Vintage of the Century, but when you land on the right wines, they are compelling, expressive, and very well made. The trade-off is that there is simply less of it. Production is down across the region, and that will translate into tighter availability, especially on the wines people look for every year.

For those newer to Bordeaux Futures, this is the only time these wines will be offered before bottling, while they are still aging in barrel. It’s typically where pricing is at its lowest and where access is at its best, particularly in vintages where production is limited. Once the wines are bottled and released, both price and availability tend to move in one direction. Now is also the best time to get wines bottled the way you would like them, whether it be half bottles, magnums, double magnums, or even larger.
