A perennial overachiever, the 2020 Château Cour d’Argent earned an impressive 91 points from Vinous and could easily pass for a red Bordeaux costing much more. Made from 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, it opens with a classic nose of crushed berries, cassis, vanilla, and violets. It is medium-bodied and nicely textured on the palate, with noteworthy complexity. It is enjoyable now and has an aging potential of three to five years thanks to its classic structure of smooth tannins.
Cheese Pairing: Tomme de Savoie
The 2020 La Cour d'Argent is gorgeous, just as it was from barrel. If anything, élevage has brought about greater brightness. Red cherry fruit, lavender, spice, menthol and blood orange flesh out nicely, buffered by bright acids that add energy.
