"Owner/winemaker Tom Puyaubert was born and raised near Bordeaux and worked at a winery in Virginia before working at a winery in Rioja and moving there after falling in love with this beautiful region in northern Spain. He started Bodegas Exopto more than 20 years ago, but we only met him at a wine trade show five years ago and we've loved his wines ever since. The Bozeto is his "entry-level" cuvee, but there's nothing basic about this wine. It's medium bodied with nice depth of flavor, with notes of dark cherry and cedar. The tannins are present but they're ripe and round, making for an easy-drinking red. Can definitely be served lightly chilled to enjoy with outdoor summer grilling." - Michael S.
La Cheeserie Pairing: 3 Month Manchego
The 2022 Bozeto de Exopto is 60% Garnacha, 35% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano sourced from the Sonsierra Area in Rioja Alavesa and Alfaro, Rioja Oriental. Aged for seven months in concrete vats, this garnet red wine offers notes of pink peppercorn, dried leaves, black tea and sour cherry. Indulgent and fairly taut due to the stem tannins, it lingers with a rich and cleansing finish. This is a unique, twocharacter red from Rioja.
