Vignerons for more than a century, the Catena family is recognized for their pioneering role in developing high-altitude appellations of Argentina. The 2022 San Carlos Cabernet Franc, which received 93 points from Vinous, comes from the family's historic vineyards in the mountainous San Carlos appellation. The region's sandy-loam soils and cool climate have yielded a remarkably fresh expression of Cabernet Franc. The fine 2022 San Carlos Cabernet Franc bursts with energetic notes of ripe red berries seasoned with a touch of eucalyptus and black pepper. The fruit is backed by robust tannins on its smooth, tangy finish.

The 2022 Cabernet Franc Appellation San Carlos originates from a massal vineyard planted in the southern Uco Valley. Fermented with 30% whole clusters and aged for up to 13 months in French oak barrels (with approximately one-third of them being new), this garnet wine with a purplish sheen offers aromas of ash, roasted red pepper and cassis, with a subtle leafy undertone. Creamy and juicy, the taut and fine-grained palate lingers with intense flavor. This is a savory Cabernet Franc from San Carlos.
