Jeb Dunnuck: 94+ Points
Red and black currants, tobacco, new saddle leather, chocolaty oak, and Provençal herb notes all emerge from the 2019 Château Badette, a ripe, opulent, seamless 2019 with loads to love. Based on 85% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot, it has lots of background oak yet balancing fruit, good mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's not for the old-school Claret lovers out there, but I suspect it will turn into a classic Saint-Emilion with 5-7 years of bottle age.
Vinous: 93 Points
The 2019 Badette is packed with blackberry jam, chocolate, espresso, new leather, licorice, new oak and cloves. This deep, flamboyant Saint-Émilion sure has a lot to offer. It would give it a 2-3 years in the cellar to help shed some tannin and baby fat. Readers can look forward to heady, full-throttle Saint-Émilion.
Wine Advocate: 90-92+ Points
Very deep purple-black colored the 2019 Badette leaps from the glass with cedar, stewed plums and blackberry pie scents followed by notions of hoisin, eucalyptus, mocha and cracked black pepper. The full-bodied palate is toting a fair bit of oak at this stage with a good core of black fruit preserves and loads of spicy accents, framed by chewy tannins and bold freshness, finishing a little woody.
