Located a short bicycle ride to the south of St.-Julien in the Haut-Médoc, Château Beaumont is owned by St.-Julien classified growth Château Beychevelle and is made by the Château Beychevelle winemaking team. Made from 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, it's very much in the style of Château Beychevelle, with plush fruit and warm tannic structure, but is more immediately approachable due to its somewhat lighter tannins. It received impressive scores of 92 points from Vinous and 91 points from JebDunnuck.com.
Cheese Pairing: Ossau Iraty
The 2020 Beaumont is fabulous in the way it marries power and finesse. Crushed red berry fruit, charcoal, dried flowers, spice and tobacco lend notable complexity. The 2020 has lost some of its youthful fruitiness, but none of its charm or pedigree. This is beautifully done.
The 2020 Château Beaumont is rock solid, with a great nose of ripe red and black fruits, spicy oak, and spring flowers. Medium-bodied, It has the pure, focused, structured style of the vintage as well as a great mid-palate and the balance to evolve for 10-12 years or more.
