Located just outside of Margaux, the wines of Moulis-en-Médoc offer the lovely floral-scented bouquet and intricately delicate fruit reminiscent of Margaux with perhaps even a hint of red fruit suggestive of a Pinot Noir. This poised, classically styled red Bordeaux from the excellent 2019 vintage received a rousing 91 points from Vinous.
La Cheeserie Pairing: Tomme des Pyrénées
Wrapped in distinctive black wax, Tomme des Pyrénées is known for its fine structure. This mild, French cow’s milk cheese is definitely worth sinking your teeth into. It resembles a mild cheddar with its semi-soft texture and bright saltiness, with notes of butter and just a hint of yogurt tartness on the finish.
The 2019 Chemin Royal has a delightful, beautifully defined bouquet of the Pinot Noir–like red fruit that I remarked on before. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red berry fruit, allspice and graphite notes. Poised and quite mineral-driven on the classically styled finish. Excellent.
