A textbook Pessac-Léognan with a classic bouquet of cassis, smoked cedar, and a hint of tobacco. Complex blackberry and mineral-infused fruit are on the palate, followed by a smooth finish of warm earth and polished tannins. It shows beautifully now and has the structure to age gracefully over the next 8 to 9 years.
– Ben Giliberti, CW Director of Wine Education
Owned and managed by Eric Perrin, the owner of Graves classified growth Chateau Carbonnieux, winemaking at Haut-Vigneau is based on a great respect for its grapes (60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot) and terroir (gravel), together with careful and traditional aging (in 20% new barrels). The result is a wine with very pleasing aromas of black fruit (blackberries, black currant) and subtle roasted notes.
