I’m hard pressed to recall the last time I came across a red Bordeaux exuding this level of class and refinement at such an affordable price. It’s a total charmer, offering pretty red and black fruit, spice, and savory herb notes in a supple, juicy, delicious package. Now approaching its fifth birthday, this graceful 2019 is drinking deliciously now with an aging potential of several more years.
– Ben Giliberti, CW Director of Wine Education
2019 Chateau d’Aiguilhe Querre enjoyed its debut in 2000. Prior to its purchase, it was known as Chateau Haut Brisson. Not wanting to be confused with the St, Emillion vineyard, they rebranded in 2002. The wine is vinified in small, temperature-controlled, stainless-steel vats. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrel. The wine is then aged in 60% new, French oak barrels for an average of 14 months before bottling. Production is quite small as less than 1,000 cases per vintage are produced here every year. Black cherry, black coffee, and figs on the nose with ripe, round, fleshy fruits, earthy overtones and juicy black cherries in the finish. Great for Summer grilling! You can enjoy this wine now or over the next decade. -Bill H.
