A partnership between vignerons, Sebastien Calduch and Jeff Carrel, Domaine d’Ansignan is estate grown wine from three distinct parcels high in the Pyrenees Mountains, at the very end of Occitania. A natural wine with minimal intervention in the cellar, vinified with natural yeasts. On the oldest vines of the estate, the 100+ year old vines produce “petites grappes” that are harvested young to preserve the most juice and freshness possible.
Tasting Notes: Very refreshing on the palate. Cherry in color with notes of pomegranate, fresh strawberry, and a lingering minerality.
Serve With: Pairs well with roasted poultry, pork, grilled vegetables, pizza— or enjoy on its own.
From an estate purchased by Jeff Carrel in 2016, the 2021 Côtes du Roussillon Les Petites Grappes is equal parts Grenache and Carignan from pure granite soils. Beautiful, almost Northern Rhône-like notes of ripe red and black fruits, smoked meats, graphite, and pepper, as well as a beautiful minerality, define the aromatics, and it's fresh, focused, and elegant, with beautifully integrated acidity. It's a stunning bottle of wine.
