José Zuccardi Malbec developed from Zuccardi Zeta. Its traditional style has respected the wine’s identity since the first Zeta harvest in 2002. José Zuccardi Malbec reflects José Alberto’s pursuit of overcoming and conviction.
The superb 2019 José Zuccardi was produced mainly with Malbec from Altamira and Gualtallary and a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon (from Gualtallary, a little backbone for the aging and a touch of complexity) that fermented separately and aged separately for one year in foudre and then was blended and put back in the foudre for one more year. This is very serious, with some austerity and elegance that I love. The wine is powerful and full-bodied, with 14.5% alcohol and a texture that coats your mouth with fine chalky tannins. This has the stuffing, balance and freshness to develop nicely in bottle. 50,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2021.
