Truly a chocolate meant to be savored! This unique series of dark chocolates combine unique Modica chocolate with flavors inspired by the cities of Sicily. Cioccolato di Modica is a PGI within the European Union recognizing Modica's traditional craft of chocolate making, introduced by the Spanish in the 16th century. Cocoa is manually ground without being separated from the cocoa butter, before being combined with sugar and other additions. This bar honors Agrigento with its addition of extra-virgin olive oil and bay leaves grown in the Valley of the Temples Park. Unlike most chocolate, modica chocolates are worked cold and are not conched, resulting in a crumbly, granular texture with natual air pockets. Let this chocolate gently warm and melt in your mouth to enjoy this traditional artisan product.
The Chocolate of Agrigento: The first bar created specifically for Agrigento, with the patronage of the Valley of the Temples Park. An organic, cold-worked, fresh and aromatic chocolate with extra virgin olive oil and dried bay leaves grown within the Park of the Valley of the Temples of Agrigento
“The Telamon here, a stone's throw
from Hades (sultry, motionless murmur),
lying in the garden of Zeus and crumbles
his stone with the patience of an airworm
: here, joint upon joint,
among eternal trees for a single seed. ”
