Established in 1886, Kuki uses time consuming and labor intensive methods for creating their sesame products that have largely remained unchanged for over 100 years. They compress their raw ingredients with a “pressing method” which unlike other companies methods, does not use any chemicals in order to extract the fragrant sesame oil. Afterwards, the oil is placed in a tank where it remains still for about two weeks, and then repeatedly filtered with cloth and filter paper. This entire process takes about one and a half months from start to finish.
