Ripe bing & rainier cherries, red rose, ponderosa bark, subtle mulling spice—fresh, mouth-watering acidity married to gentle, fine-grain tannin structure—lithe, wonderfully elegant, resonant finish—youthful, will cellar for many years
The 2021 Pinot Noir Hyland Vineyard comes from self-rooted vines planted in 1989. It was vinified with around 15% whole clusters and matured for 14 months. It blossoms slowly in the glass from wild berries and Italian plum to accents of bitter orange, tobacco and forest floor. The medium-bodied palate has a chalky, refreshing frame, giving its surprisingly nuanced core of fruit a weightless feel, and it finishes with alluring spices reminiscent of Angostura bitters. It will benefit from a few years in bottle to unwind.
